Rum soaked boy!

In my quest to bake a cake I am trying innovation from the word go, I remembered my French teacher telling me that for Christmas, the french make cakes wherein they soak resins and apricots in wine/rum for 6 months prior to the christmas week....
I bought a quarter of dark rum and emptied it to soak figs,walnut and black currents over night. Today is day 2. Tomorrow I plan to make figs,walnut and black currents chocolate gateau. The images I have in my mind are droolable. Cant wait to get busy.

13th July his b'day.. the cake turned out ok, not as i'd liked it to be. 5/10.
